St Joseph’s win Beat the Heat Championship

CHANDIGARH:An all-round effort helped St Joseph’s School beat Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, Coaching Centre by six wickets and win the 2nd Beat the Heat U-15 Cricket Tournament here on Wednesday.



Chandigarh, June 12

An all-round effort helped St Joseph’s School beat Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, Coaching Centre by six wickets and win the 2nd Beat the Heat U-15 Cricket Tournament here on Wednesday.  

Batting first, Coaching Centre were all out for a below par 97 runs in 27.3 overs. Pranav Kaushal was the pick of the bowlers for St Joseph’s, claiming 3/10. Nihar Gaur took 2/9, while Ishaan Gaba picked 1/15.

Kavya Goel (16) and Daksh (15) made useful contributions to the Coaching Centre total.  

In reply, St Joseph’s reached home in 26.4 overs. Arpit Dhir made an unbeaten 22, while Bhavya Thakur remained not out on 15. Soumil bagged 2/18 for Coaching Centre.

Ishaan Gaba was adjudged Man of the Series, while his teammate Aksh Rana was named the Best Batsman. Aryan Chaudhary, also from St Joseph’s received the Best Fielder award.   

YMCA’s Shivdeep Singh and Harsh Chaudhary were adjudged the Best Bowler and Best Wicketkeeper respectively.

Kartik helps ESCA win

Kartik Sharma claimed a four-for as Eicher School Cricket Academy (ESCA), Parwanoo, registered a six-wicket win over Play XI, Panchkula, in a Summer Cup match at St Soldiers School grounds in Panchkula.

Batting first, Play XI were bowled out for 79 runs in 18 overs. Sharma was the wrecker-in-chief for ESCA, claiming 4/24. Nikhil (2/9) and Suraj (2/13) took two wickets each.

Ankit Kesari (14) and Krish Nagpal (13) made noticeable contributions to the Play XI total.  

In reply, ESCA romped home in just 11 overs. Ritish Thakur (32) did the bulk of scoring the Parwanoo outfit. 

Pranshu Sharma (3/19) was the most effective bowler for Play XI.

Nikhil, Rakesh shine

Nikhil Sharma scored a 48-ball 63 after Rakesh grabbed 4/25 to help Ultimate Fitness XI beat Shiva XI by seven wickets in Champions Corporate League match at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula. 

Chasing 154 runs for victory, Ultimate Fitness XI, aided by Sharma’s knock, reached home in 17.2 overs. Rishabh contributed 24-ball 41 to the chase.  

Earlier, Shiva XI had made 153/9 in 20 overs, with Kapil Bhardwaj hitting a 19-ball 40. Vishesh chipped in with 21 runs. — TNS
