Stray bulls went berserk here today, injuring seven persons. According to sources, a stray bull first attacked two schoolchildren, aged 7 and 9, who were on their way to school near Green City, Zirakpur, leaving them injured. It again attacked some persons out for a morning walk in Shanti Enclave in which two persons, including a 72-year-old woman, sustained injuries. The panic-stricken walkers ran helter-skelter for safety.

Similalry, in another such incident reported from Lalru Mandi village here this morning, a stray bull gored two senior citizens — Balwant Singh (75) and Ajmer Singh (in mid-80s) — leaving them seriously injured. The victim’s son, Mahinder Singh, a resident of Lalru Mandi village, alleged that his father Balwant Singh, along with another senior citizen Ajmer Singh, was sitting outside the house when the duo was attacked by the stray bull. Balwant Singh got stitches on his head, while Ajmer Singh also sustained injuries and was admitted to a hospital at Lalru.

The sources said Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Lalru, was on his usual morning walk when he too was attacked by the stray bull.

The problem of stray cattle, including bulls, on roads in the Dera Bassi has become a big menace. Several mishaps involving stray cattle have been reported from the area.

Residents alleged that despite an alarming rise in the number of road accidents due to stray cattle in the area, the authorities have failed to check the menace.
