Chandigarh, July 26

Ambedkar Students’ Association, during its protest for the reopening of mess and canteen, submitted a memorandum to the Panjab University  Vice-Chancellor here today.

In their letter, they stated that the admission process had already started from July 10 and every year, the PU, which closes it hostels’ canteens in June (during summer vacation), resumes all canteens after vacation in the first week of July.

The memorandum reads: “This year, the mess-canteen was not only closed during summer vacation (June) but in July too. It’s still not opened. Many students come from humble backgrounds and can‘t afford having food outside hostels.”

Ambedkar Students Association shared that only 3-4 messes/canteens were opened during last week and due to heavy rush these canteens are not able to provide quality food and healthy food.
