Students with disabilities provided with wheelchairs, assistive aids at PU

Panjab University (PU) organised an Assistive Aid Distribution Programme at its Alumni House. The event, led by the Equal Opportunity Cell for Persons with Disabilities and the Department of Alumni Relations, emphasised on the varsity’s commitment to inclusivity.

As part of the assistive programme, being organised in collaboration with the Vardhman Group, Ludhiana, two motorised wheelchairs were donated to students with locomotive impairments and a DAISY player (audio book player) for a visually impaired student.

The assistive devices being provided are aimed to help significantly enhance the academic experiences of the beneficiaries, enabling them to overcome challenges with confidence.

Beneficiaries, including Ravi Rawal and Pradeepak Josan, students with locomotive impairments, and Mandeep Singh, a student with a visual impairment, expressed heartfelt gratitude. The assistive programme also drew appreciation from other attendees, including faculty, alumni, and supporters.

Spearheading the initiative, Harsh Nayyar, former Director of Research and Development Cell, PU, provided invaluable support in laying the groundwork for this inclusive effort.

Among the others who were present at the Assistive Aid Distribution Programme were Yojna Rawat, Director of RDC; Latika Sharma, Dean of Alumni Relations; and Ramesh Kataria, Nodal Officer for persons with diasbilities, who welcomed beneficiaries and distinguished guests.
