MOHALI:Giant killer Sanidhya Dhar stayed on course to the title as he stretched his unbeaten run with a 6-0 6-1 win over Divyam Sharma in the boys’ U-12 semifinals in the Roots-AITA TS7 National Ranking Championship at the Roots Tennis Academy in Zirakpur on Thursday.

Giant killer Sanidhya Dhar stayed on course to the title as he stretched his unbeaten run with a 6-0 6-1 win over Divyam Sharma in the boys’ U-12 semifinals in the Roots-AITA TS7 National Ranking Championship at the Roots Tennis Academy in Zirakpur on Thursday. 

In the final, Dhar will face Siddharth Mohan, who registered a 6-0 6-4 win over Ankit Kumar in the semis.

In the boys’ U-16 competition, top seed Dhairya Chadha humbled Umang Singh in straight sets to set up the title clash with second seed Rijul Bhatia. Chadha won 6-1 6-2, while Bhatia edged out Gurpreet Singh 6-2 6-4.   

Vanya, Sidhak move ahead

Vanya Arora downed Omisha in the girls’ U-16 semifinals. The top seed won 6-4 6-1 and will now play Jyotsana Yadav for the title. The second seed packed off Sargun Singh 6-0 6-2 in the other semifinal.  

In the girls’ U-12 semifinals, top seed Sidhak Kaur dismissed Ankita Kumari 6-3 6-3, while second seed Ajenika Puri tamed Diya Kapoor 6-3 6-1.

Meanwhile, top seeded pair of Dhairya Chadha and Kartik Sunil beat Sanidhya Dhar and Ankit Kumar 6-4 6-2 to win the boys’ U-16 doubles title.
