CHANDIGARH: An uneaten 155 by Surya Narayan helped Chandigarh get three points on the basis of a 214-run first innings lead from their draw against Nawanshahr in the Punjab Inter-District Cricket U-19 Championship for Dhruv Pandove Trophy today.

An uneaten 155 by Surya Narayan helped Chandigarh get three points on the basis of a 214-run first innings lead from their draw against Nawanshahr in the Punjab Inter-District Cricket U-19 Championship for Dhruv Pandove Trophy today.

Electing to bat first, Chandigarh posted 365/6 before declaring their innings. Narayan scored 155 off 200 balls, studded with 19 boundaries and a six. He was supported by Harnoor Pannu (49), Ishan Goyal (33), Nipun Sharda (33), Mandeep (29) and Jashanjot Singh (23). Ujjwal claimed 2/100, while Dipanshu (1/84) and Manik Khanna (1/62) got one wicket each for the bowling side.

In reply, Nawanshahr were bundled out for 151 runs. Phulkit Kalra (43), Mohal Lal Arora (31) and Manav (29) got most of the runs. Gursukhan returned with stunning figures of 6/39 for the bowling side. Arshnoor (3/48) was the bowler to do the damage. In their second innings, Chandigarh posted 78 for no loss when the match ended.

In the second match, Mohali recorded an innings and 145-run win against Ferozepur. Batting first, Ferozepur bundled out on 105 runs as Anshul Negi claimed 6/15 and Harshdeep Singh took 2/25 to wreck their innings. 

Kamlpreet Singh (24) and Rubam Manga (20) were the only two main run scorers for the side. In reply, Mohlai amassed 344/3 before declaring their innings. The side claimed a 199-run lead to make a string grip on the match. Shanraj Gautam came up with an unbeaten 108 off 147 balls, including nine boundaries, while Anshul Chaudhary scored 96 off 139 balls. Facing a tough task, Ferozepur agsin failed and bundled out on 94 runs. Harshdeep (4/13), Ashwani Kumar (3/11) and Anshul Negi (2/20) were the main wicket takers for the bowling side.        

Ludhiana lads log win 

Ludhiana beat Hoshiarpur by an innings and 126 runs in a match during the Punjab Inter-District (U-19) Cricket Tournament being played at Jathedar Santoksh Singh Margind Sports Stadium, Dulay village (Phallai Sahib) near Ludhiana on Sunday.

Hoshairpur, in their first innings, were bowled out for 60 runs. Ludhiana declared the first innings at 238 runs without losing a wicket.

Yesterday, at close of play, Hoshiarpur second innings were again in trouble with only 15 runs on board losing six wickets after nine overs.

Resuming the play on Sunday, Hoshiarpur faced an uphill task to overhaul a big score. As Ludhiana scored an innings victory, they were awarded seven points, including one bonus point.

In the next match to be played at the same venue on April 23 and 24, Ludhiana will take on Mansa.
