SUV hits bullock cart, 56-year-old man dies

LALRU:A 56-year-old man was killed after his bullock cart was reportedly hit by a Fortuner near the ITI intersection at Lalru early this morning.

A 56-year-old man was killed after his bullock cart was reportedly hit by a Fortuner near the ITI intersection at Lalru early this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Suresh Kumar, a resident of Lalru. The police said the incident occurred around 5.30 am when Suresh Kumar left his village to get fodder on his bullock cart. His brother, Rajesh Kumar, was walking behind him.

The police said when Suresh was about to cross the ITI intersection, the SUV, bearing a UT registration number, which was coming from the Chandigarh side, reportedly hit the bullock cart following which Suresh fell off and his head hit the road. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to a hospital.

The police have registered a case at the Lalru police station against the SUV driver, Bobby, a resident of Yamunanagar, on a complaint of Rajesh Kumar. —OC
