Tailor challaned Rs 14,071 for throwing waste into water body in Chandigarh

Acting firmly against littering in public spaces, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has challaned a tailor for illegally throwing waste at a public place in the ecologically sensitive area of the Patiala ki Rao, Dhanas.

During routine monitoring and inspection by an enforcement team of the sanitation wing, the individual was caught throwing garbage in the restricted stretch of the Patiala ki Rao. Taking immediate cognisance of the violation, the municipal corporation imposed a challan amounting to Rs 14,071 under the relevant provisions of the Solid Waste Management Rules and the Municipal Corporation Act.

The action forms part of MC’s ongoing drive to curb unauthorised dumping and ensure strict compliance with waste management norms. Officials stated that Patiala ki Rao is an environmentally sensitive zone, and such irresponsible acts not only deface public spaces, but also pose serious environmental and public health risks.
