Senior BJP leader Sanjay Tandon on Wednesday met Administrator, Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria at the UT Secretariat, Sector 9, in the presence of senior officials, including the Chief Secretary, Secretary to Governor, Secretaries of Home, Finance, Sports and Education and the Chief Engineer. During the meeting, Tandon raised several key issues concerning industry, urban policy and infrastructure development.

Tandon strongly advocated for an increase in floor area ratio (FAR) without additional charges. He pointed out that neighbouring regions like Mohali and Panchkula had already implemented similar measures free of cost. He suggested that at least the increase from 0.75 to 1.5 FAR should be provided without any charge, while any further increase could be considered at nominal rates. Raising concerns over the interpretation of SC orders related to percentage-wise property sale, Tandon urged the Administration to review its current stance.

Another important issue discussed was the utilisation of premises of kerosene dealers. Tandon suggested that these sites be repurposed for alternative uses such as CNG outlets or EV charging stations.

The meeting also covered the proposal from the BCCI regarding the development of an indoor stadium and the use of five school grounds for sports associations.

Tandon also brought up the proposal from Skate Asia to host the Asian Championship in Chandigarh in November 2027. He shared the required infrastructure upgrade plan with the Sports Department. Kataria instructed officials to take necessary steps.
