On the directions of Excise and Taxation Commissioner Jatinder Yadav, raids were conducted at various offices of tour and travels companies.
Sources said around eight teams of the department carried out searches at six offices in Sectors 22, 43, 34 and Kajheri after they received an information that the companies were not paying tax.
Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner RK Chaudhary said documents and tickets were recovered from the offices and buses and notices would be sent to the companies after calculating the amount of tax.
He said the records would be scrutinised and fine would be imposed accrodingly. The firms which were raided included Jamindara Tarvels, Indo Canadian travel, Hary Travel and Vijay Travels.
