TDI, Gateway City inclusion in Mohali MC limits on the cards
MLA Kulwant Singh says govt keenly considering proposal
Inclusion in the new Municipal Corporation limits is on the cards for TDI City and Gateway City, but chances are bleak for areas such as Balongi, Badhmajra, Baliyali, sources privy to the matter said.
Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh also indicated that the state government was keenly considering the proposal and a decision may be taken soon.
Residents of TDI City, Green Enclave, Gateway City, Balongi, Badhmajra, Baliyali, have expressed their strong resentment on being excluded from the proposed boundary in the draft notification issued recently. The last date for submitting objections and suggestions was November 6 and sources said as many as 42 objections have been received by the Local Government Department. Hundreds of residents, individuals, societies, RWAs and NGOs have put their signature, sources said.
Mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu, meanwhile, said, “The House had resolved to include these villages in the new limits in 2021. But now, the government has taken a decision arbitrarily. We will support the residents of these village and will knock on the doors of the court if Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government does not reconsider its decision.”
Meanwhile, Twelve new sectors are likely to be added to the MC area when the expansion is formalised, which is expected to before December 31.
