Kharar, December 10

The Kharar Sadar police have cracked the murder case of a schoolteacher, Sarbjeet Kaur, who was shot dead outside her school in Sunny Enclave on Thursday morning and have arrested the mother of prime suspect Harvinder Singh Sandhu in the case. She will be produced in the court tomorrow.

Sarbjeet Kaur, who was teaching at Knowledge Bus Global School, was shot dead outside her school in Sunny Enclave on the morning of December 5 by an unknown assailant, who had covered his face with a shawl. After committing the murder, the culprit had managed to escape in a car.

An FIR in this regard was registered at the Kharar Sadar police station under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC against an unidentified person. After the murder, a team of the Kharar Sadar police station, including SHO Amandeep Singh, started probing the case under the supervision of SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal. The investigating team, led by Kharar-1 DSP Amroz Singh, cracked the case today.

The police said during questioning of Harvinder’s mother Shinder Kaur, it came to light that the conspiracy was hatched by the mother-son duo to eliminate Sarbjeet Kaur.

“Harvinder was not willing to marry Sarbjeet, but she was insisting on it. Harvinder then hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Sarbjeet and he told his mother about it,” Kharar SHO Amandeep Singh said. According to the police, Harvinder’s mother knew that he was in a relationship with Sarbjeet and they had a daughter.

According to the police, “Shinder Kaur, who lives in France, had come to India in October to execute her plan. Both Harvinder and Shinder Kaur had hatched the conspiracy.”

Harvinder and his mother had asked his wife Karamjeet Kaur to leave the country a month ago as they did not want their plan to be leaked.

Harvinder had left his home last month and told his mother that he would enter the house only after eliminating Sarbjeet Kaur.

Mohali SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal said they were yet to find out whether Harvinder had carried out the murder on his own or whether it was a contract killing. The police said raids were on to arrest Harvinder Singh.
