Theft at four houses, cremation ground

CHANDIGARH: Five theft incidents, including four in houses, have been reported from the city where thieves decamped with jewellery worth several lakhs and cash.

Five theft incidents, including four in houses, have been reported from the city where thieves decamped with jewellery worth several lakhs and cash.

According to the police, a theft was reported from a house in Sector 11 on January 13 where thieves decamped with jewellery and cash.

Silver bangles, a gold chain, a pair of earrings, silver utensils, a hand bag, a suitcase and Rs 10,000 were stolen from the house.

The police were informed about the incident following which a case was registered at the Sector 11 police station.

The second theft was reported from Deep Complex in Hallo Majra. Complainant Raj Kumar reported that two mobile phones and Rs 25,000 were stolen from his house on the intervening night of Janaury 13 and 14. A case regarding the theft has been registered at the Sector 31 police station.

The third theft incident was reported from a house in Sector 39 on January 14. Complainant Naresh reported that a briefcase containing a gold necklace, a pair of earrings, silver anklets, a silver ring, documents and Rs 60,000 were stolen. The police were informed about the incident following which a case was registered at the Sector 39 police station.

Another theft incident was reported from Maloya Colony. Complainant Mohammad Kaleem Khan reported that he had gone out of station on January 10. On his return on January 14, he found the door locks of his house broken and a laptop and cash stolen from his residence. A case has been registered at the Maloya police station.

Thieves did not even spare a cremation ground. Cash and important documents were stolen after breaking a donation box at the cremation ground in Mani Majra. A case has been registered at the Mani Majra police station.
