According to the police, the complainant, Manmohan Lal, stated that unknown person stole three pairs of earrings, a pair of bangles, a pair of anklets and Rs 71,000 from his house on October 16. A case has been registered at the Sector 11 police station. TNS

Segregation: 115 more challaned

Chandigarh: The Municipal Corporation continued to challan residents who failed to segregate dry and wet waste for the third day on Thursday. As many as 115 defaulters, including two door-to-door waste collectors, were challaned for not collecting segregated waste. The MC imposed a fine of Rs 200 each on them under the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016. The door-to-door waste collectors were challaned in the Mani Majra area. TNS 

Oct 21 paid off for Hry voters in UT

Chandigarh: The UT Administration has declared a paid holiday for registered voters of Haryana working in factories in the city on October 21, when the neighbouring state goes to the polls. The order has been issued to enable all electors from Haryana, including casual workers, to exercise their right to franchise. TNS

Light rain likely today: Met dept

Chandigarh: The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain in the city on Friday. “Though monsoon is over, there are 50 per cent chances of light rain due to western disturbances,” said a Met official. As per the Met forecast, it is going to be clear sky on days ahead. There is not going to be a major change in the temperature in the coming days. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature recorded in the city on Thursday was 32°C, which is a degree less than normal, and the minimum 20.8°C, three degrees above normal. TNS

56 daily wagers regularised  

Chandigarh: The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has regularised the services of 56 daily wagers in the Building and Road (B&R) wing here on Thursday. Rajesh Kalia, Mayor, said the workers have been regularised for the post of Beldar in the B&R wing. They will work in their respective divisions. He said their services have been regularised with immediate effect.  TNS

Light and sound show at sukhna 

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Administration will organise a light and sound show with ultra-modern laser techniques at Sukhna Lake on Diwali. Sources said the show will depict the Ramayana. A show based on the life of Guru Nanak Dev will also be presented as part of the 550th Parkash Purab celebrations. Officers of the Engineering Department today made a presentation before UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore regarding the show. The electrical circle of the Engineering Department has prepared the light and the sound show which will be opened to public for from October 25 to October 27 in the evening. TNS
