Mohali, September 24

Passengers at the Chandigarh international airport in Mohali faced a lot of inconvenience as inclement weather caused the cancellation of three flights, while nearly 25 flights took off behind schedule today. Besides, 20 flights landed late at the airport due to poor visibility. The flights from Dubai and Sharjah were also delayed.

According to airport officials, the visibility remained low till the afternoon. “After 2 pm, the situation improved following which the flight operations started normalising,” said officials at the airport.

As several flights were delayed, the airport witnessed a huge rush of passengers and their kin. Due to incessant rain, there was no place for those waiting for their kin to sit or stand outside the airport premises.

“Even inside the premises, there was utter chaos due to the heavy rush. There was no place to sit,” said Rajinder Singh, who came to the airport to see off his daughter.

The Air India Sharjah-Chandigarh flight arrived around three hours behind schedule. As a result, it took off late. Similarly, the Dubai flight was delayed by around one hour.
