Chandigarh: A court on Thursday awarded three-month imprisonment to a man for stealing a motorcycle. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on the suspect, Chote Lal.



Chandigarh: A court on Thursday awarded three-month imprisonment to a man for stealing a motorcycle. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on the suspect, Chote Lal. In a complaint to the police, Vikram Singh, a resident of Sector 15, Chandigarh, stated that he parked his motorcycle in the Sector 15-D market. When he returned, he found his vehicle missing. On his complaint, a case was registered  on November 29, 2017. Later, the police arrested Chote Lal for stealing the motorcycle. TNS

Resident booked for cheating

Chandigarh: A Zirakpur resident has been booked for duping a person of Rs 10 lakh on the pretext of selling a SUV. According to the police, complainant Baldev Singh reported that Sushil Gandhi of Royal Empire, Peer Muchalla, Zirakpur, took Rs 10 lakh in 2015 on the pretext of selling him a Toyota Fortuner. He neither gave him the SUV nor returned his money. TNS

Loan on fake papers: 1 booked

Chandigarh: An unknown person has been booked for availing a loan of Rs 27,090 from HDB Financial Services to purchase an iPhone on fake documents. According to the police, complainant Kundan Singh of HBD Financial Services, Sector 7, reported that an unknown person impersonated as Rohit Kumar of Sector 49 and submitted fake documents to purchase an iPhone 6. Man booked for cheating UIDAI

Chandigarh: An Ambala resident has been booked for getting a job at the Unique Identification Authority of Indian (UIDAI) office by furnishing fake documents. According to the police, complainant Ashutosh Kaushik, Deputy Director, UIDAI, reported that the suspect, Raj Kumar, a resident of Sector 8, Ambala, submitted fake documents of his parent department, Directorate of Fisheries, Ambala, while applying for the post of section officer. The suspect also managed to get selected as the section officer in the UIDAI. Later, it was discovered that the suspect had submitted fake documents. The police were informed about the incident. After probing the matter, the police registered a case of cheating. TNS

AMRUT: City ranked second 

Chandigarh: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has ranked Chandigarh second from among all states and UTs for works carried out under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation & Urban Transformation (AMRUT).
