Chandigarh, December 13

A Zirakpur resident was held for driving in an inebriated condition and hitting a PCR vehicle.

According to the police, Constable Charan Singh, in-charge of the PCR vehicle, reported that he was patrolling the Industrial Area, Phase I, on the intervening night of December 11 and 12 when a Beat car hit the PCR vehicle from the rear side at the Colony No. 4 light point and sped away from the spot.

The PCR vehicle chased the car and intercepted it near the Mauli Jagran light point.

The complainant reported that the car was being driven by Daljeet Singh of Zirakpur.

The police took the driver for a medical examination at the civil dispensary in Mani Majra and found that he was in an inebriated condition.

A case under Section 279 of the IPC and Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act has been registered at the Industrial Area police station.
