Officiating DGP of Punjab Gaurav Yadav conducted surprise checks at the Mataur and Phase VIII police station here today.

Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, DIG, Rupnagar Range, and SSP Vivek Sheel Soni were present at the occasion.

Yadav inspected the malkhanas, barracks and canteens at the police stations and enquired about the facilities being provided by the police administration.

Talking about his visit, he said he was personally going to police stations to check the working of the police force and see if there was any shortcoming, which could be rectified. He said it was the priority of the police to take strong action against drugs and gangs so as to maintain law and order in the state. He said the agenda of the police was to improve the basic policing and the relations of cops with the general public.
