CHANDIGARH:Top seed Harllen Kaur of Punjab stretched her winning streak with a straight set victory against third seed Princy Panchal of Haryana in the women’s U-18 semifinals in the ongoing CLTA-AITA Champion Series (CS-7) Tennis Tournament here on Thursday.

Chandigarh, July 19

Top seed Harllen Kaur of Punjab stretched her winning streak with a straight set victory against third seed Princy Panchal of Haryana in the women’s U-18 semifinals in the ongoing CLTA-AITA Champion Series (CS-7) Tennis Tournament here on Thursday. 

Harllen won the opening set 6-3 and then dismissed her Haryana counterpart 6-1 in the second set to seal a spot in the final, where she will meet Punjab’s Ameek Kiran Batth. 

Seventh seed Ameek upset fifth seed Priyanka Jakhar of Haryana 6-4 6-2 in the semis.

Hooda motors on  

In the boys’ U-18 category, top seed Krishan Hooda of Haryana packed off fourth seed Akhilendran Indrabalan of Kerala 6-1 6-2 to set up the title clash with Naresh Badgujar.

The third seed from Haryana registered a 6-1 6-2 win over Punjab’s Sarabjot Singh in the semifinals.  

Sukhpreet advances 

Punjab’s Sukhpreet Singh Jhoje, meanwhile, cruised past fourth seed Aryan Thakur of Chandigarh in the boys’ U-14 semifinals. The top seed won 6-1 6-3 to set the final date with Arhaan Pahwa.  

The second seed from Chandigarh dismissed third seed Navya Verma of Punjab 6-0 6-0 in the semifinals.   

In the girls’ U-14 category, top seed Mahi Tyagi of Delhi lived up to her billing as she downed fourth seed Catherine Bhangu of Chandigarh 6-3 6-2 to march into the final.

Boys’ U-14: Sukhpreet Singh Jhoje bt Aryan Thakur 6-1 6-3, Arhaan Pahwa bt Navya Verma 6-0 6-0

Girls’ U-18: Harllen Kaur bt Princy Panchal 6-3 6-1, Ameek Kiran Batth bt Priyanka Jakhar 6-4 6-2

Girls’ U-14: Mahi Tyagi bt Catherine Bhangu 6-3 6-2
