Trader murder accused paraded with tonsured heads in Pinjore

A day after a trader’s murder in Pinjore, the police paraded four accused, with tonsured heads and injured legs, in the main market to recreate the crime scene today. The accused included Manpreet Singh, alias Mani, a resident of Ganeshpur Bhauria, Pinjore; Rohit Mehta, alias Vicky, of Nangal, Kalka; Manish Kumar, of Ratpur Colony; and Khushdeep Singh, alias Dipi, a resident of Manakpur Thakurdas.

Panchkula DCP Srishti Gupta suspended Inspector Bachchu Singh, in charge of the Pinjore police station, with immediate effect and transferred other personnel posted at the station.

Extensive staff reshuffles were carried out at police stations and posts in the district. The DCP said the district police’s top priority was ensuring the safety of citizens and maintaining law and order. She clarified that any negligence, laxity or irresponsibility towards duty would not be tolerated.

A shopkeeper, Jitesh Manocha (42), was beaten to death in broad daylight in Pinjore on Friday. The police have arrested four persons in this regard. The accused hit him with sticks before fleeing the main market in broad daylight. They were arrested within three hours.

The deceased’s father said his son worked with him at a cloth store in the Pinjore market. At 3.15 pm, his son was sitting in an acquaintance’s car when the accused pulled him out and attacked him with sticks. Jitesh was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Jitesh and Khushdeep had an argument over parking a month ago, following which a complaint was filed.
