Iwill like to bring to the attention of the Chandigarh police that traffic lights at the Sectors 45 and 33 crossing should be closed. The stretch must be made one way as it has been done at the crossing between Sectors 42 and 36. It will help to smoothen movement of the traffic. Most labourers live in Burail. They use cycles to commute and do not obey trafic rules, which causes accidents. Closure of the light on this road will end commuters’ woes.

HUDA land turns wasteland
The accompanying photograph taken in the Sector 8 market area of Panchkula captures the mindless dumping of waste on a vacant HUDA plot. Ironically, this is being done despite some key departments of HUDA housed in a nearby building. Could this open area not have been put to a better use instead of being allowed to be converted into wasteland by some vested interests?

Faulty traffic light
The accompanying photograph taken near the office of Bharat Electronics Limited in the Industrial Area, Phase II, Panchkula, captures this traffic signal in a limbo. How come that this damaged traffic light has failed to attract the attention of the department concerned? So, the moot question remains: When will the much needed traffic light be made functional here?

Have your say
Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?
