Tricksters make off with Rs 2.30L from car

CHANDIGARH: Unidentified miscreants stole Rs 2.30 lakh from a Swift car after tricking its occupants at the Sector 34/35/43/44 roundabout here today.

Chandigarh, December 3

Unidentified miscreants stole Rs 2.30 lakh from a Swift car after tricking its occupants at the Sector 34/35/43/44 roundabout here today.

Two persons, Kunal Singla, a liquor vend manager, and Gurvir Dhillon, an advocate, were on their way to Sector 42 when the incident took place.

Initially, the victims had told the police that the cash was snatched from them. However, they later revealed that they were tricked by the miscreants. The police said the miscreants, who were riding a motorcycle, told them that oil was leaking from the engine of the car. The miscreants then drove away.

The duo came out the car to check. In the meantime, someone stole the cash lying in the dashboard. “There was oil on the bonnet of the car, following which they started checking the engine. Maybe, the cash was stolen at that time,” the police said.

Unaware of the theft, the victims left the place. They found the cash missing when they reached Sector 42.

The police suspects that the accomplices of the miscreants were following them and stole the cash. A case of theft has been registered at the Sector 36 police station. — TNS
