Two held with stolen vehicles in Chandigarh

The UT police have arrested two persons in separate cases of vehicle theft.

A police team arrested 27-year-old Sumit Kumar, a labourer from Mohali, who was found in possession of an e-rickshaw, which had reportedly been stolen from a parking area in Sector 49-C recently.

In another case, 30-year-old Shobhit, a salesman residing in Zirakpur, was arrested for allegedly stealing a two-wheeler belonging to a resident of Sector 63.

Both accused have no criminal history. They police have recovered both stolen vehicles.

Man posing as MC inspector held

The police have arrested 35-year-old Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Sector 41-D, for posing as an MC inspector and issuing fake vendor licences.

A team from the Sector 39 police station nabbed the suspect after a complaint was filed by Mukesh Giri and Navneet Chawla, members of the MC Town Vending Committee. They reported that a vendor in Sector 41 had been approached by a man posing as an MC inspector. He was issuing fake vendor licences and charging between Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,500 for the same.

The police arrested Rajesh and recovered fake identity cards and forged vendor licences. He was produced before a court and the Judge sent him to one-day police remand.
