Two more Covid cases in Mohali

Mohali, May 30

Two more Covid-19 cases were reported from the town during the past 24 hours, taking the tally in the district to 114. A 21-year-old youth from Sector 77 and a 29-year-old woman from Sector 71 have been found infected with the virus.

Civil Surgeon Manjit Singh said the woman was the wife of a Delhi-based State Bank of India employee, who had recently returned home and tested positive. He added that the woman was asymptomatic. He said the youth was a student and had reached the flu clinic with mild Covid-like symptoms. His samples were taken, which tested positive.

The Civil Surgeon said they had already quarantined the youth’s father, mother and sister and taken their samples for Covid test. He said they were trying to identify his other contacts to prevent the virus from spreading. The source of infection was also being traced.

He said of the 114 cases reported from the district, 102 had been cured. Three patients died of Covid. Now, Mohali has nine active cases. At present, the district has a recovery rate of 89.5 per cent and fatality rate of 2.6 per cent. — TNS
