Panchkula, July 15
The local police have arrested two more accused in the Kalka murder case.
The police said Vishal and Gurdeep, the accused, were arrested locally following a tip-off. “Both were produced in a local court which sent them to two-day police remand,” said a CIA official.
On June 28, Vikram (25), alias Vicky Kaimi, was shot dead on his birthday while three of his friends — Dalip, Mahinder and Lakhwinder, alias Happy — sustained injuries after a group of over 20 assailants opened fire at them at Paploha Majra village in Kalka. The victims were sitting in Vikram’s white Mahindra Scorpio car.
Vikram was shot multiple times and one of the bullets that pierced through the back of his head killed him.
On June 30, the police had arrested the main accused, Kalka BJP leader Shyam Lal Tagra and president of the Haryana wing of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) Bhupinder Babbu, at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi when they had returned from Goa.
The murder is said to be a fallout of an old rivalry involving two groups active in Kalka — BSB Sports Club, led by Bhupinder Babbu, and the Pinky Majrewala group, led by Yograj Pinky.
With these two arrests on Sunday, the police have so far arrested a total of 16 accused in the case.
