Two teenaged cousins killed as car hits bike

MOHALI: Two teenaged cousins riding a motorcycle were killed after being hit by a Chevrolet Cruze car at Mullanpur here on Saturday.

Two teenaged cousins riding a motorcycle were killed after being hit by a Chevrolet Cruze car at Mullanpur here on Saturday.

In the incident, which took place around 7 pm, Akashdeep Singh (17) and his Navnit Singh (13), both residents of Mullanpur Garibdas, lost their lives on the main road near Omaxe City.

The police said the victims’ bike was hit by a black Chevrolet. The car driver fled leaving his vehicle behind.

Some passersby took the victims to hospital where doctors decided them brought dead, said the police.

“The car driver has been identified as Amanpreet Singh of Mullanpur. A case is being registered against him,” said Inspector Bikramjeet Singh, SHO, Mullanpur Garbidas police station.

The police said the victim’s families had been informed about the tragedy. “The statements in this connection are yet to be recorded,” said the police.

The bodies have been kept at the mortuary of Civil Hospital, Kharar. The autopsy would be conducted on Sunday, said the police.
