In yet another devastating defeat, the Chandigarh senior men’s team lost by a massive margin of 227 runs against the star-studded Uttar Pradesh side in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Rajkot on Friday.
Chasing the target of 367, the local lads bundled out at 140 in 30 overs. Manan Vohra (32) and Taranpreet Singh (24) remained the main scorers for the side. Sanyam Saini (18), Ankit Kaushik (16), Arjun Azad (11) and Tushar Joshi (11) couldn’t hold the middle order pressure. Zeeshan Ansari picked 4/29, while Vipraj Nigam took 2/35 for the bowling side. Kartik Tyagi, Vaibhav Chodhary and Prashant Veer also took a wicket each.
Shubman may join punjab squad
Harnoor Singh and Anmolpreet Singh posted stunning unbeaten centuries to help Punjab defeat Chattisgarh by nine wickets in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match in Jaipur. Chasing a modest total of 253, Punjab lads posted 254/1 in 43 overs.
Indian opener Shubman Gill is likely to join the Punjab squad in their next match against Uttarakhand, to be played in Jaipur on December 29.
Earlier, Uttar Pradesh lads scored 367/4 in 50 overs. Opener Abhishek Goswami left early after scoring one run. Arjun Juyal posted 134 off 138 balls with seven boundaries and eight sixes. Another notable innings came from the bat India’s T20 World Cup-bound batter Rinku Singh. He troubled the Chandigarh blowers by posting a 60-ball 106, studded with 11 boundaries and four sixes. Indian wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel scored 67, and Sameer Rizvi 32. Taranpreet claimed two wickets while Sandeep Sharma and Nishunk Birla picked one each.
