UP man awarded 20-year jail for raping minor in Panchkula

A POCSO court has sentenced a man to undergo 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in 2021. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the 30-year-old convict, a native of Rampur in UP.

The victim’s mother had stated that the man, who was a resident of Panchkula, took the girl to a village on December 10, 2021, where he tried to rape her. As the victim resisted his move, he threatened her of dire consequences. The girl narrated the incident to her mother on December 12 after which the police were approached. A case was registered and the accused arrested.
