PANCHKULA: The police have arrested a person for possessing 20.5 kg of ganja near Amravati here late on Monday night.

Panchkula, July 9

The police have arrested a person for possessing 20.5 kg of ganja near Amravati here late on Monday night. The suspect has been identified as Mahesh Verma, a resident of Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh and presently living in Daluwal in the Pinjore block of the district.

The police said acting on a tip-off, they laid a barricade near Daluwal village in Amravati to nab the suspect, who was a wholesale dealer of ganja.

The police said a person, who was coming with a bag on his back, started running in the opposite direction after seeing the police. The police overpowered him after a brief chase. During the search, they recovered ganja from him. The police have registered a case. — TNS
