Chandigarh cops shine in National Masters Athletics Championship

Chandigarh Police personnel delivered an impressive performance at the 46th National Masters Athletics Championship 2026, held at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, bringing multiple medals and accolades to the department.

Inspector Baldev Kumar (No. 479/CP) emerged as one of the standout performers, winning a gold medal in the 4×400 metres relay event. He further showcased his athletic prowess by securing three bronze medals in the 4×100 metres relay, 400 metres run and 800 metres run.

Adding to the medal tally, ASI (LR) Jaswant Rai (No. 3494/CP) clinched a gold medal in the 5,000 metres walk/run event, demonstrating remarkable endurance and consistency at the national level. Senior Constable Mukesh Kumar (No. 6409/CP) also contributed to the department’s success by winning a bronze medal in the javelin throw event.

In recognition of the achievements of the medal winners, the Chandigarh Police Department has announced cash incentives. Gold medallists will receive Rs 20,000, silver medallists Rs 15,000 and bronze medallists Rs 10,000 each.

Senior officials congratulated the sportspersons for their dedication and discipline, stating that the achievements reflect the department’s commitment to promoting sporting excellence alongside professional responsibilities. The department also encouraged its personnel to continue participating in competitive sports and representing the Chandigarh Police at national and international platforms.
