Chandigarh: As many as 358 candidates of the 520 selected for posts of constable in the Chandigarh Police joined the Police Department on Thursday.



Chandigarh: As many as 358 candidates of the 520 selected for posts of constable in the Chandigarh Police joined the Police Department on Thursday. Among the 358, 201 are women and 157 men. A police official said the remaining candidates would be called for joining in due course after receipt of their verification from the police station concerned. After final joining of the candidates, they would be sent for basic recruit training at Phillaur and Jahan Khelan in Punjab. TNS

Bag snatched in Sector 40 

Chandigarh: A motorcycle-borne miscreant allegedly snatched a bag from a woman, who was going on her Activa in Sector 40. According to the police, the miscreant snatched the bag from the victim near the vegetable market in Sector 40 on May 29. The bag contained a mobile phone, Rs 500, two debit cards and documents. Sources said the footage of CCTVs installed in the area was being scrutinised. A case has been registered at the Sector 39 police station. TNS

One held with stolen mobike

Chandigarh: A Mohali resident was arrested while riding a stolen motorcycle. According to the police, Sonu, a resident of Phase VI, Mohali, was nabbed at a naka near the Sector 23/34 light point while riding the stolen motorcycle. The police said he had affixed a fake number on the bike, which was stolen from Kalka. A case has been registered against him at the Sector 17 police station. TNS
