VC: Will continue to serve teaching community

CHANDIGARH: Panjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover, who will retire on July 22, said on Tuesday that Chandigarh was the gateway of the North-West of India and he would continue to serve the teaching community for the betterment of the Panjab University and its colleges.

Panjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover, who will retire on July 22, said on Tuesday that Chandigarh was the gateway of the North-West of India and he would continue to serve the teaching community for the betterment of the Panjab University and its colleges.

He was speaking at an event where he was given a warm send-off by the Principal Federation Panjab University Colleges (PFPUC).

Prof Arun Kumar Grover expressed his gratitude for the honour given to him by the affiliated colleges and said six years had been a great learning experience for him.

Prof SS Deol, Principal, GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sudhar, and President of the Principal Federation Panjab University Colleges (PFPUC), said Prof Grover made all efforts in giving autonomy to colleges and bringing research centres to the colleges.

Nisha Bhargava, Principal, MCM College, Chandigarh, said the VC motivated and encouraged them with valuable guidance for the golden jubilee celebrations of MCM DAV College.

Prof Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examination, Panjab University, expressed his gratitude towards the VC for bringing in various reforms in the online examination system in Panjab University.

‘Six years of great learning experience’

10 interviewed for PU VC post

Around 10 applicants were interviewed for the post of PU Vice-Chancellor in New Delhi on Tuesday. As per sources, those who appeared for the interview included ADN Bajpai, former VC, Himachal Pradesh University, Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, VC, Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, Prof Jagat Bhushan Nadda, Director, Consortium for Educational Communication, New Delhi, Prof RK Kohli, VC, Central University of Punjab in Bathinda. Besides, two professors from South India also appeared for the interview. Atleast 10 years of experience as a professor in a university is must for applying. However, no age bar is set. TNS
