Vehicle thief arrested in P’kula, three two-wheelers recovered

The police have arrested a habitual vehicle thief and recovered three stolen two-wheelers, including a scooter, officials said on Friday. The accused already has three cases of vehicle theft registered against him.

According to ACP Crime Arvind Kamboj, a resident of Panchkula lodged a complaint at the Pinjore police station on March 11 stating his scooter, which had been parked outside his shop near Kheda Temple in Pinjore on March 9, had been stolen by an unidentified person. The police registered a case and launched an investigation.

A team of the Detective Staff, led by Inspector Nirmal Singh, conducted a raid based on a tip-off and apprehended the accused, Rahul, a Pinjore resident. The police recovered the stolen scooter from his possession.

During interrogation, the accused disclosed his involvement in other thefts, following which the police recovered two additional stolen two-wheelers based on his identification.

DCP Crime and Traffic Manpreet Singh Sudan said the accused had previously been booked in three cases of vehicle theft. He added that the police are maintaining strict vigilance to curb criminal activities in the city and will continue to take firm action against offenders.

The accused was produced before a court and has been remanded to judicial custody. The Panchkula police have also urged residents to park their vehicles in secure locations and immediately report any suspicious activity to help prevent such crimes.
