Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Chandigarh and former Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal has declared that he would file his nomination papers on April 26. He also announced that he would release his poll manifesto soon.

He was addressing a gathering at the Congress Bhawan in Sector 35 here on Monday where BJP leader and two-time former Deputy Mayor Vijay Singh Rana of Burail rejoined the Congress.

Rana was formally inducted into the party fold by Bansal and city Congress president Pardeep Chhabra. Another leader Meherban also joined the Congress on the occasion.

Bansal said Vijay Singh Rana’s mother Kashmiri Devi had also been the Senior Deputy Mayor of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation.

If he wins the elections, he would ensure that Burail and Mani Majra were developed on a war-footing, Bansal said.

Praising the Rana family, Chhabra said it had been loyal to the Congress from the beginning. The family, along with others who had joined the party, would get due respect in the Congress.

Rana pledged that he would ensure maximum voting for Bansal from Burail. At the same time, he sought an assurance that when Bansal becomes the Union Minister again, he would ensure all-round development of Burail.

Senior party leaders Subhash Chawla, Sandeep Bhardwaj, Devinder Singh Babla, Bhupinder Singh Badheri and Jagjit Singh Gora Kang were present among others.
