While Baltej drove the car in which the shooters fled to Rajasthan, Mangat had arranged the bike used in the crime.

The recovered vehicles include a black motorcycle (PB-22-D-5444) and a white car. A week after the incident, the two shooters continue to elude police.

Gurvinder Singh, 30, was shot dead by unidentified assailants near his parked vehicle outside the District Courts Complex.

A case under Sections 103(1), 109 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 25 of the Arms Act was registered at the Sohana police station. The complainant, Gurvinder’s wife, had suspected the involvement of foreign-based gangster Satinderjit Singh, alias Goldy Brar, who had allegedly been threatening her husband.

Mohali SSP Harmandeep Hans said during an investigation in the Gurvinder case, CCTV analysis revealed that two accused came on a black motorcycle and executed the shooting. Later, they changed clothes and escaped in a car to Rajasthan.

Based on technical and human intelligence, it emerged that the crime was allegedly planned by gangster Goldy Brar with the help of his associates Vicky Singh, alias Vicky Sattewala, and Ravi Kumar, alias Ravi Faridkotia, who were currently abroad, the SSP said.

Efforts are on to identify and apprehend the remaining associates and masterminds to completely unravel the conspiracy.

Gurvinder Singh, a resident of Rurki Kham, had come to court with his wife for a hearing in an NDPS Act case. Eyewitnesses had stated that as he exited the court, one of the assailants shook hands with him before shooting him at point-blank range in the face and head. After firing, the duo fled the scene on a motorcycle.
