Accusing a senior Congress leader of betrayal, Congress general secretary Shashi Shankar Tiwari today said he, along with his supporters, would support independent candidates in the MC poll.
Addressing a press conference, president of the Purvanchal Vikash Mahasangh said they would ensure defeat of the Congress candidates. Also, a former BJP leader and ex-sarpanch of Daria, Gurpreet Singh Happy, criticised the BJP accusing it of fielding a candidate from outside. He is now contesting as independent.
