Winds uproot trees in P’kula

PANCHKULA: Heavy rain accompanied with high velocity winds uprooted various trees besides disrupting electricity supply here this evening.

Heavy rain accompanied with high velocity winds uprooted various trees besides disrupting electricity supply here this evening.

It started raining at 3:45 pm. Showers continued till 4:30 pm. Trees on the bus terminal complex and near the fire station in Sector 5 here were uprooted. After rain, various sectors, including Sector 4, saw power breakdown.

MC Commissioner-cum-Administrator said they had not received any information about uprooting of trees. He added that no loss of life or property was reported from the areas under the jurisdiction of the civic body.

In Chandigarh, tree branches fell on roads in various sectors disrupting traffic movement. However, no damage to property was reported from any party of the city. In Mohali, the situation was normal though some areas were flooded with rainwater, which receded gradually.
