The police have arrested three persons, including a woman, on a charge of immoral trafficking here.

The suspects have been identified as Taranvir Singh, a resident of Sector 49, Chandigarh, Pinder Singh, a native of Uttar Pradesh, and a 22-year-old woman. Tanvir and Pinder are reportedly associated with a Punjabi singer.

According to DSP Ramandeep Singh, the trio has been booked under Sections 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the Immoral Trafficking Act at the Sohana police station.

“The suspects were creating a ruckus at Purab Apartments following which the police reached the spot and arrested the trio,” said the DSP.

Earlier, high drama was witnessed at the spot as the woman levelled rape charges against the youngsters. According to residents of Purab Apartments, the woman, who was not in a proper dress, arrived at the security office of the residential complex around 10.30 am and claimed that she was raped by some youngsters living in a rented flat there. On getting information, a PCR team reached the spot and arrested the youngsters.

According to Inspector Rajesh Astir, SHO of the Sohana police station, after preliminary investigation, it was found that the woman was misleading the police. “It was not a case of rape but of immoral trafficking,” said the SHO.

He said the woman had submitted some complaints of rape earlier also at different police stations. “We are verifying the facts of all such complaints,” said Astir.
