Woman cop found dead in vehicle

A Chandigarh Police constable, Sapna, was found dead in her car near Mansa Devi Temple here on Tuesday.

Her brother, Gaurav, has filed a case against his brother-in-law. He has stated in the complaint that his elder sister Sapna was married in 2014 to Parvinder, a resident of Goria village, Jhajjar district. Parvinder, who is in the Army, and Sapna have a six-year-old daughter. There had been frequent disputes between the two and Parvinder used to harass her, he alleged. His brother-in-law, who was addicted to drugs, had attempted suicide in June 2024, said Gaurav.

On March 11, Parvinder informed Gaurav that Sapna had neither reported for duty nor was answering her phone. Sapna’s friend, Urmila, said she had gone to the Mansa Devi temple. The family located her car near the Saketari Road and found the cop dead.

Gaurav alleged since the car was locked, he suspected that his brother-in-law murdered Sapna.

The police are looking for her husband.
