A resident of Panchkula was duped of Rs 1.47 lakh in a cyber fraud. Triveni (55), a resident of Sector 4, said she received a text-message, regarding a few net banking points expiring soon on August 28. She clicked the link in the message and filled-in her details, including bank Id and password. Later, she said she received a message of Rs 98,127 being debited from her account. In no time, another transaction took place in which Rs 49,112 were also deducted from her account, all while she was trying to block transactions on her account.
The woman filed a complaint with the police. The police have registered a case in the matter under various Sections of the BNS.
