Chandigarh: An NRI woman’s purse containing cash and jewellery was stolen from a club in Sector 7 here on Saturday.



Chandigarh: An NRI woman’s purse containing cash and jewellery was stolen from a club in Sector 7 here on Saturday. According to the police, complainant Reena, who had gone to a club, Social, reported that someone had stolen her bag containing Rs 20,000, two diamond rings, one diamond bracelet, a diamond pendent and one wallet from the club. It is alleged that the bag was stolen by a girl. The police were informed about the incident following which a case of theft was registered. TNS

Man duped of mobile phone

Chandigarh: A Nayagaon resident was duped of his mobile phone by two Activa-borne miscreants. The miscreants borrowed his mobile phone and escaped from the spot. According to the police, complainant Raman reported that two miscreants riding a white Activa scooter stopped him on the road dividing Sector 20 and 21 and requested him to lend his mobile phone to make an urgent call. The victim handed over his mobile phone to them after which the suspects sped away from the spot. The police were informed about the incident following which a case of cheating has been registered. 30-year-old man commits suicide 

Chandigarh: A 30-year-old man reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Sector 38 (West). The victim has been identified as Raju, who worked as a driver. He was found hanging this morning after which he was rushed to the GHSH-16, where doctors declared him brought dead. The police have initiated an investigation into the case. TNS

CBC deputation meets UT Adviser

Chandigarh: A deputation of the Chandigarh Business Council (CBC) met UT Adviser Manoj Kumar Parida to raise the issues of traders here on Sunday. Neeraj Bajaj president, CBC, accompanied by Jagdish Arora, chairman, and governing body members HS Gujral, Baldev Aggarwal, SP Garg, Subhash Sethi, LC Arora, JPS Kalra, Parveen Gulati & Chander Verma were among others present in the meeting. The issues that were discussed in the meeting included allowing need-based use of allotted premises, more FAR for optimum use of buildings in Chandigarh, especially in Sectors 7 & 26, Industrial Area, Phase I & II, provision of box-type structure in rear upper courtyard in Phase I i.e. Sector 1 to 30, among others.
