Yet another application moved by the defence has once again delayed framing of charges against Economic Offences Wing (EOW) DSP RC Meena and three other accused in a graft case registered in 2015.

Earlier, the defence today tried to move another application, which was rejected by court. The defence lawyer was demanding a stay on the proceedings till October 22 as an application is pending in the High Court on the same date. However, the same was rejected by the judge and the current application was filed after that.

The latest application says that the CFSL lab in New Delhi is not a notified examiner of electronic evidence under Section 79 of the Information Technology Act.

As many as 35 applications have been filed till date and thus the beginning of the trial in the case is being delayed. The latest one was filed as the voice samples of the accused and the complainants have been sent to this lab. It thus demanded that the CFSL report not be considered in the case.

The next hearing in the case is on October 26.

Four persons were arrested by the CBI on August 13, 2015, on graft charge. According to the CBI, all four were allegedly putting pressure on a family in Mohali and had demanded a bribe of Rs 95 lakh from it for not arresting the members in a criminal case.

All four were allegedly caught taking Rs 40 lakh as the first instalment of the bribe money.

Besides Meena, the accused in the case are Surinder Kumar, Sub-Inspector, EOW, Sanjay Dahuja, co-founder of Berkeley Automobiles, Industrial Area, and Aman Grover, owner of KLG Hotel.
