Youth arrested for thrashing two cops

CHANDIGARH: A 24-year-old youth has been arrested by the local police for allegedly thrashing two cops in Sector 28. According to the police, head constable Karambir Singh, posted at the police beat box in Sector 28, reported that Rohit Patial, a native of Hamirpur district in Himachal Pradesh, who was riding an i20 car, deterred him from performing his duty at Sector 28.

A 24-year-old youth has been arrested by the local police for allegedly thrashing two cops in Sector 28.

According to the police, head constable Karambir Singh, posted at the police beat box in Sector 28, reported that Rohit Patial, a native of Hamirpur district in Himachal Pradesh, who was riding an i20 car, deterred him from performing his duty at Sector 28. He also thrashed the complainant and constable Sonu, who was also on duty at the spot.

The police said the constable’s uniform was also torn by the youth.

The cops informed the Police Control Room about the incident following which a PCR vehicle reached the spot.

The police said a case under Sections 186 (obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public functions), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty) of the IPC has been registered at the Sector 26 police station. The youth was arrested.
