Youth crushed under truck

Mohali, November 11

A 23-year-old youth was killed after being run over by a truck near a dhaba on Tangori Road here last night. The deceased has been identified as Navjot Singh, a resident of Karala village, near Banur.

The victim’s brother, Amanpreet Singh said Navjot, who worked at a highway toll plaza, left home on his motorcycle for some work last evening. “When he did not return for a long time, we started searching for him. On reaching Punjab Dhaba, we learnt that a youth had been crushed under the wheels of a truck. We were able to identify him from his clothes and motorcycle,” said Amanpreet.

The truck driver sped off after the accident. A case under Section 279 and 304 of the IPC has been registered against an unknown truck driver at the Sohana police station.
