A youth allegedly duped a farmer of Rs 1.3 lakh after he exchanged the victim’s ATM card on the pretext of helping him withdraw amount at an SBI kiosk in Marranwala village of the Pinjore block.
In his complaint to the police, Harcharan Singh, a resident of Marranwala, stated that he had gone to the SBI ATM to withdraw money on Friday. A youth present there helped him withdraw Rs 10,000 by entering PIN. He said after withdrawing money, he returned to his house. He said on Saturday, he received messages of withdrawal of Rs 20,000, Rs 10,000, Rs 40,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 40,000 from his account. He said that he immediately got his ATM card blocked as he had realised that the unidentified youth committed the fraud after exchanging his ATM card.
The Pinjore police have registered a case.
How it happened
