Youth gets jail for attacking cop

CHANDIGARH: A court has sentenced a 20-year-old youth to four-year imprisonment for assaulting a constable.



Chandigarh, September 20

A court has sentenced a 20-year-old youth to four-year imprisonment for assaulting a constable. The convict, Kawaljeet Singh, is a resident of Sector 29. A fine of Rs 10,000 has also been imposed on him.

The incident pertains to November 16, 2017. Constable Pankaj Kumar stated that around 3.15 am, he was going to his house on his motorcycle after duty. When he turned towards Zirakpur from the Hallo Majra light point, he found four boys on the road. He asked them about their intentions and one of the boys asked his accomplices to run.

Pankaj chased the boys and managed to catch one of them. However, the other three boys came back and threw bricks at him. The other three are juveniles and are being tried in a juvenile court. — TNS
