Youth held for minor’s rape

CHANDIGARH: A 21-year-old youth has been arrested for raping his neighbour, a Class X girl, who had got pregnant.

Chandigarh, January 9

A 21-year-old youth has been arrested for raping his neighbour, a Class X girl, who had got pregnant.

According to the police, the 16-year-old victim had stated in her complaint that the suspect used to visit her house and she too used to visit his house. The suspect molested her but she did not disclose it to anyone.

However, the suspect once visited her house and raped her. He threatened her not to reveal the it to anyone.

Later, the victim got pregnant, following which she narrated the incident to a teacher at her school.

The police were informed about the incident.

A case under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered at the Mauli Jagran police station.
