Youth killed in scooter crash

CHANDIGARH: A 23-year-old youth was killed while the pillion rider was injured after their Activa scooter hit the Sector 34/35/44/43 roundabout on the intervening night of February 16 and 17.

A 23-year-old youth was killed while the pillion rider was injured after their Activa scooter hit the Sector 34/35/44/43 roundabout on the intervening night of February 16 and 17. The victims were returning after watching a movie.

Mohit Sharma (23), a resident of EWS Colony, Dhanas, was killed while his friend Sumit, a resident of Sector 52, was injured in the accident.

The police said the victims had gone to a gym in the evening from where four of them decided to watch a movie at a mall in the Industrial Area, Phase I. The show ended late at night after which the victims were returning home when the mishap occurred. Mohit was not wearing a helmet.

Their friends were coming in another two-wheeler and reached the accident spot.

Both injured were rushed to the Government GMCH, Sector 32, where Mohit was declared brought dead.

Mohit worked with a private contractor in Sector 17.

The Sector 36 police are looking into the matter.
