Panchkula: Youth stabbed in robbery bid, main suspect arrested

The police have arrested the key suspect within six hours of a 33-year-old man's murder in an alleged robbery attempt. Efforts are underway to trace the second suspect.

ACP (Crime) Arvind Kamboj said the deceased has been identified as Deepak. He was attacked by two youths with sharp weapons while on his way to home. The incident took place around 2 am near Krishi Bhawan in Sector 12. The robbers snatched his mobile phone before fleeing. Badly injured, Deepak was rushed to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6, where doctors declared him dead, the police officer said.

A murder case was registered at the Sector 5 police station on the complaint of the victim’s brother. Deepak, a native of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, was residing in Dhakoli and used to work at a call centre in Panchkula.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) Manpreet Singh Sudan said the police have arrested the main accused, Roshan, a native of Gopalganj, Bihar, currently residing in Dhakoli. He will be produced before the court for police remand to recover the weapon and stolen phone.

Police Commissioner (ADGP) Sibash Kabiraj said strict action would continue against criminals, asserting that no one disturbing law and order would be spared.
