The Punjab Education Department has decided to start classes in government smart schools. Vijay Inder Singla, Education Minister, said during a programme held at Sri Guru Arjun Dev Government Girls Senior Secondary School here on Tuesday. The winner students of Amritsar zone-level competition were also honoured on the occasion. The programme organised by the Education Department was dedicated to the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

The Education Minister honoured Nandani Mahajan and Rabia, girl students of Bal Vidia Mandir High School, Nangal Kotli Mandi, Gurdaspur, with a cheque of Rs1 lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively for getting first and third position in sports and class 10 examination.

The minister honoured 15,000 teachers, who produced 100 per cent results in their respective subjects. Local MLA Dr Dharambeer Agnihotri was among others who addressed on the occasion.
